The Epilepsy Unit is part of the Consorci Mar Parc de Salut de Barcelona (PSMAR) which is a public institution responsible for several health centres in the area of Barcelona, including two general hospitals, a psychiatry institute, a geriatrics institute and several Outpatient centers dedicated to mental health, addictions, primary care and family planning. PSMAR also has a research institute (Institute Hospital del Mar d'Investigacions Mèdiques, IMIM), as well as facilities for teaching in a program agreement with the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University Pompeu Fabra (UPF). The related institution PSMAR-Fundació Institut d'Investigacions Mèdiques mar (FIMIM), is in charge of the management of PSMAR research.
The Epilepsy Unit has established collaborations with various national and international centres. With them it coordinates and develops professional exchange programs and multicentric scientific cooperation studies.
